Arnout Mostert

Arnout graduated from Leiden University in The Netherlands with a Masters degree in Political Science. Subsequently, he was trained as an interrogator in the Military Intelligence Agency. The objective of the training was to help elite Army units resist interrogation should they ever be caught in hostile territory. After his Army period Arnout joined Shell International where he fulfilled several global Marketing roles. After 8 years at Shell he left to obtain his MBA at INSEAD in 2003. Subsequently he settled in Singapore where he worked for Interbrand (brand consulting) and Fallon (advertising). He now runs his own company, an Internet startup which operates as a marketing platform and brokerage for conference tickets (Conference Bay).

Arnout has a background in Marketing and Branding both on the client and on the agency side. While at Shell he has been involved in several restructuring projects. When Shell went through a major crisis in the late ‘90s, he helped develop, test and roll out a leadership programme for high potential staff. This one week intensive programme helped the participants to identify their personal values, mission and vision and how to link these effectively with those of the organisation.

His experience in working with global multinational corporations has given him tremendous insight into the successful ‘modus operandi’ of these organisations. He knows the challenges these organisations face in “thinking global, acting local”. During his time as Global Promotions Manager, he trained retail staff all over the world in adapting sales promotions to local circumstances. This obviously required diplomatic skills as well as determination to get results.

Arnout has extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region, having travelled widely and having worked for Interbrand and Fallon with clients such as Citibank, United Airlines, OSIM, Raffles Hotels & Resorts, Maple Tree, Genting, Volkswagen, Toyota and Telekom Malaysia.

Arnout is a regular speaker at conferences on the topics of entrepreneurship, Internet marketing and Brand strategy and he has run many training sessions to help business people become more compelling and persuasive presenters. He is trained in carrying out Brand Valuations, combining an assessment of ‘soft’ and ‘hard’ aspects of the marketing mix and is a skilled workshop facilitator.
